![]() Martin’s fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire – was (and remains) unfinished. One of the enduring difficulties for Game of Thrones was that its source material – George R. House of the Dragon provides the chance to win back fans with the promise of new faces and even more, well, dragons. While the original show began as a sprawling, beloved adaptation of a sprawling, beloved book, it ended in tears amid complaints of rushed timelines and incoherent writing. HBO’s follow-up to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon has a slightly different, and potentially easier, challenge. They have to stay true to what made the original series work without retreading the same old ground, and provide just the right amount of fan service to stop a Reddit revolt in its tracks. ![]() Prequels have an unenviable, often impossible task. ![]()
